My dad purchased this piano from an elderly woman who lived up the street from he and my mother in Playa del Rey pre-1950. I guess the woman was the first and only owner of this piano until Dad bought it from her.
It used to be very dark wood and since my mother preferred lighter wood in her home, Dad refinished the entire piano to the color you see in the photo.
I'm not sure whether they realized refinishing an antique would devalue it or not. Dad would have done it for Mom anyway, regardless. They didn't buy it for its value but for family fun.
It has ivory keys and I'm told by "real" piano players that this piano has beautiful resonance and tones.
