I know that old dolls with bald heads and discolored faces are not to everyone's taste. But I love them. My nephew dug up the bust of an old German doll on the sight of a burned farmhouse years ago. He gave me the head and I love it. Recently I bought a cage doll on vacation and it is chipped and rough looking and although it is a reproduction, I am very pleased to own it. I bought some very frilly, lacy, curly haired china dolls at a yard sale at a very reasonable price and tried my hand at my own version of a cage doll using muffin tins and lampshades and brick a brack from my craft supplies. I like her and her message if you can't read it is: "don't let anyone ever dull your sparkle!"
Okay creepy
Yes, I know. Both of my daughters think she is creepy. She is an acquired taste. Thanks for the love to PoliticalPinbacks and bjoucaillouvintage. I appreciate you stopping by! mary
The doll in first photo is a contemporary doll from 198os-90's . You can buy wigs fairly reasonable for her :-)
Thanks for the comment Manikin. The doll in the first photo is my cage doll before I repurposed her. I took her wig off to age her. As I said, she is an acquired taste for sure....I know there are many who prefer the pretty dolls with hair and dresses and lace. I used to collect those dolls in the 80's and 90's myself and I enjoyed them. Now I enjoy authentic old dolls, (which I mostly cannot afford), or repurposed dolls which are treated to appear old and well loved. thanks for stopping by!
Oh ok I get it now :-) I did not realize it was same doll I thought it was old doll you referred to that brother dug up ,so I misread your post . Well you are being creative and have repurposed her . Fun to make something original to your taste :-)
