From what I've just learned it's called sumida pottery and it's from Japan. I'm not finding any with the elephant and the hare or rabbit. Beautiful set. 4 cups and 1 pitcher. The elephants themselves are a flat white porcelain except for their tusks and toenails. Very very very well made pieces. Any info is so gratefully appreciated Thank you all who chime in.

You have a very nice tankard set made by Ryosai date with in 1890-1900's going by the colors.

Wow .... I'm loving the info y'all. I'm definitely in my new home. And thank you grendel67.... I love the colors. Different from alot that I've seen ... and the motif is alot diff as well. The elephant and rabbit I can't find on any other.... woohoo so neat. So over 100yrs old. Amazing condition for age. Not all the tusks and thin ears on the elephants made it but it still has it's beauty

The rabbit is different I haven't seen that before but I am not surprised. There is a lot of different pieces you can find with different motifs on them. So I think you could collect this and still find something new you have never seen before.Makes it still fun to look for.
