Hi All
Well this is something I purchased for very little recently. The set looks virtually unused and the solid wooden box is in perfect condition, with the original key in a small envelope taped to the inside. My problem is identifying the marks, which initially I thought would be relatively easy, but it turns out it is more tricky than I had anticipated.
So, each fork has the small mark shown in the pictures. What that is supposed to be I have no idea, seemed rather dolphin like. The other line of marks are on each blade of the knives. Again, struggling to glean anything from that. It is a very nice set of vintage cutlery (although date I have no idea, maybe 40s or 50s at a guess due to the bone handles) but I just don't know what I have. Hopefully someone can shed some light on what all the marks mean.
Thanks All
Hamish
I think it is a 'lamp' mark .... Aladdin's lamp.
