(927 items)
This Victorian fairy lamp is made from a single layer of blue glass, with applied trailed threaded decoration in opaque white over a ribbed dome & cup. The whole item has a satin finish, & measures 13.5 cm tall, 4.7 cm across the opening on top of the dome, & 4.7 cm across the base. The inner part of the lamp cup measures 9 cm across. There is an acid etched marking inside the cup, which reads CLARKE'S PATENT "FAIRY". Most likely of English origin.
lovely piece IronLace the colouring and threading superb magic !!!!!!!!
The work in these fairy lights amazes me, and this is a stunner. Do you ever put a votive in them? I can imagine they are gorgeous lit.
Many thanks, MALKEY!
I have tried it in the past with other fairy lamps - until I read that modern candles burn far hotter than the original Victorian ones - which can cause a risk of cracking.
So not for this one - but from what I've seen from those I lit in the past, they do look stunning.
Ah, don't want to damage them!! Maybe those naf battery tealights might be better.
That is a good idea - should give it a try sometime...
