Another San Bernardino item. The shop is still there a block away from old Route 66. This would be from the heyday of Route 66 before ashtrays became a no no. Back in the 1960s we made ashtrays in grade school. I think that is a mandatory prison term now.
As for the ashtray it is about 6" across including the tire. The tire is a good replica of a Goodyear tire, I think it is a truck tire. I wonder if Goodyear actually made the miniature tire.
better tread then on my car too
I still have one from Kelly tire that is late 50's early 60's. These were originally given to garages and tire dealers to have on their counter and tables. It was a way of drawing your attention to their product. A form of advertising. After a time you could get one as a customer for buying that brand of tire. They were very popular back in the day. The one I have came from a SUNOCO station where my father in law worked with his cousin.
Thank you very much valentino97. Back in the day a gift with purchase was fairly common.
Thank you very much 2p. The ashtray does have good treads.
Thank you very much fhrjr2. That sounds logical. Will look up some of the other brands.
