A rather unusual chunk of petrified wood I think. This is opalized petrified wood which is where the would is replaced with opal as opposed to petrified woodified opal. If one clicks on the first photo it looks like traditional petrified wood on one side and glossy on the other. The thumbnails don't show this piece of rock all that well.
This little rock is 6" long and about 4 1/2" tall.
Another from our local rock shop. Nice little area for antiques and collectibles.
Love Petrified Wood, opalized even better but yeah it is hard to capture the real beauty in a photo and most aren't flat enough to scan without cutting
