I bought this as a gift a couple days ago, can anyone confirm that this is fake or real? I haven't received it yet but I kinda feel like it is a fake. I am not an experience rs prussia collector by any means. Thanks!
It is transparent, so I guess it seems to be real porcelain. The mark is very small, about 1/2 the size of a penny. It is very fine in detail and is green/red. The bowl is 9". There is also a "16." shown in the photo.
However, is this a real piece? I still don't know.
Your cake plate is identical to the one shown in plate 366 of the Marples' "Wreath and Star" book. It is unquestionably authentic.
rjkinkent , that is good news. however it seems deep for a cake plate? and it has no handles.

Each mold design was used to make a wide range of objects; plates, bowls, cup/saucer sets, coffee and tea pots, etc. The handled cake plates are generally around 10 1/2 inches in diameter, and the slightly smaller serving plates about 9 inches. Individual serving plates are about 6 inches, but they all have the same form and molded details. And yes, yours is absolutely identical to the one in the book; same mold, same rose garlands, same central medallion, same mark.
I've looked at your picture again, and it's hard to judge the depth of the piece when viewed from above. If it is deeper than it seems in the picture, then it's a serving bowl. These also came in a variety of sizes.
