Casual poses are very unusual in the early days of photography.

Even children are typically photographed in a stoic, upright pose. This particular view is one of the most unusual poses that I have seen.

The boy is stretched out on the photographers railing. The carte de visite (cdv) was photographed by Jennings of Norwich, CT and the revenue stamp on the reverse dates it to 1 AUG 1864- 31 JUL 1866.

Along with this image, I also purchased standard poses of a father and daughter by the same photographer. I would think that these three were related.

Reproduction of these images in any form is prohibited.

Thanks roy-- I really like the revenue stamps too. They are a fascinating sub- collecting field to photographs and can really add interest and value.

I will post some rare ones later today.

That is another unusual one for sure. I wonder what that was about? He probably refused to stand still, he looks a bit rambunctious. haha That is very odd!

Scott, I was hoping you might be able to help out someone that posted a piece of furniture. They have a photo of it with the original owners and I think you may be just the one to pin point it for them. Here's the link...thanks Scott.

haha that little girl does not look too happy. She's probably P.O'd that she didn't get to lean on the railing too. I agree, the girl and boy could maybe even pass for twins, they almost look exactly alike. And I'm not even talking about their attitude. Very cool.
