Good afternoon everyone,
Here is a Mexican Lobby card from the 1968 movie Un Largo Viaje Hacia La Muerte/ A long journey towards Death. I will just touch lightly on the plot and add a link which includes more information.
PLOT
The plot of Un largo viaje hacia la muerte references (and/or exploits) various contemporary topics, including LSD (also a plot device in 1968's The Big Cube, not to mention Hollywood pictures like The Trip). Although today we tend to associate LSD with "hippies" taking "trips," the drug was originally considered for therapeutic use and Un largo viaje hacia la muerte--despite the "psychedelic" titles and certain parts of the LSD sequence--has nothing to do with the youth culture of the late Sixties.

Like many drugs it's purpose was intended to help something. Crystal meth in some form was given to house wives in the fifties for depression. Go figure. Cool post Rodd.
There's a keeper and in great condition, I hear "they" are starting to use a daily micro dose of LSD for therapeutic use, Not enough to trip or so "they" say.
Agree cool post
Have you ever seen the documentary about the US army recruits who were given lsd and then had to run an obstacle course. By the end even the ones not given lsd were acting weird. They were never told what they were given.
I saw that one, I'm not sure if it was on that show or another about the CIA dosing many people from all walks of life from a house wife to a US Marshall without there knowledge, make ya wonder what they might be up to now. (dosing a president would explain a lot ;p)
Albert Hoffman a Swiss created lsd in 1938 he discovered it's psychological effects in 1943 and in 1947 it was introduced as a commercial medication. I know this because I had a debate with a friend over Alice in wonderlands author being under its influence. This was published in 1865 so it's impossible. Thanks internet.
Like Coca Cola adding cocaine to their product. Sure helped their sales:) I didn't know about the crystal meth given to Housewives in the 50's Roy this is wild! The Rolling Stones "Mothers little Helper" many people associated with drugs, when they were talking about a specific drug that was prescribed for everything from severely ill mental patients to recovering alcoholics to comfortable middle class people who sometimes felt anxious. It was called "Miltown."
See were learning a lot lol I thought "Mothers little Helper" was Valium but maybe that was just my mothers hehe
I thought the same until reading up on it PPb. Outside the door she took 4 more!!
Thomas you got that right Timothy Leary was a trip for sure. Turn on tune in drop out. He got to hang out with Jimi and John Lennon!!
Roy I remember that documentry wondered how they could get away with feeding someone LSD without them knowing what was happening to them.
Rodd amphetamine was first made by the Germans in the late 1800,s in 1916 the Japanese created methamphetamine both sides used it for soldiers in WW2 it's crystalline form made it suitability for injection. Kamikaze pilots were given high doses before suicide missions It was given to factory workers as well. In the fifties it was regularly prescribed for weight loss and depression. Truckers and college students who had to stay awake also did there fair share.
Every wonder why mom's house was so clean and tidy. Lol
Understandable loading the Kamikaze pilots with high doses they had to be out of it to go through with crashing their planes into the ships of the Americans. Bennies for the truckers and students good for awhile then awake but not focused caused many road accidents. The things people did to get more work hours out of the factory workers, highly addictive also.
