    Found in parents' estate items. Distant relatives in photos, not sure if they are tintype. Man's hair and beard look "fixed". Blue background in both photos. Both frames appear to be gilded and very ornate mat. How do I know if they are tintype? I am guessing they are from the late 1800's due to woman's birthdate on back of her frame. I believe he was her husband.

      They appear to be large painted tintypes. In the late 19th century, these large images were in vogue.

      The quality of the painting determines values and desirability. Your pair of images are on the higher end of the spectrum!
