This belonged to my grandad, I think it's quite old and would like to learn it's history. It is on silver coloured metal and measures about 8 inches. It says engraved by George T Doo and entitled Nature

    Unsolved Mystery

The original painting is by Sir Thomas Lawrence. The title is The Calmady Children and they are Emily Calmady, 1818-1906 and Laura Anne Calmady, 1820-94. It is owned at this moment by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA.
The maker of this engraving is George Thomas Doo RA (6 January 1800 – 13 November 1886) and he was from England.

      Thank you for that information.
Would an old print have any other but sentimental value. Would a lot of them been printed?

The date engraved on the plate is 1829 and engraved To her Royal Highness Duchess of Kent
