This level has been in my family for years and i ]t was the only thing i wanted when going through my late Grandmothers estate. The top plate is inscribed, J Rabone & Sons. All fittings are brass but i am unsure of the wood type. Top plate also says, remove to adjust. it measures 765mm in length. would like to know when it was made as i have searched on google and cant find one the same.

Looks like a spirit level and I believe Rabone was British made brass bound hardwood. American ones are normally brass bound mahogany. Not positive but think yours is probably early 1900's.
