I purchased these 2 photo lockets and a mourning locket at an estate sale on a long week end trip away.
The swivel mourning locket is rolled gold and quite large but missing a pin or something as it does not sit as it should. The young lady with the hat and pearls is quite beautiful.
The older lady may very well be her later in life.
One is 9ct gold and the other 2 are rolled gold.

Update: I have since discovered the large swivel mourning locket above was made to be worn as a mourning fob locket pendant and was never meant to be worn as a brooch.

Very nice finds! Love the old photos still in :-)
The swivel one was a brooch, it has broken and only half of the frame remains...

      Hi karen,
Yes its good the photos are still there and in good condition. I often wonder how and why these heirlooms are not treasured by their descendants, maybe the blood line died out?
Great fun away but spend more than I should :))

Hi kyra, I think mourning lockets like this were made to be displayed on an easle. A small pin is missing and I can see a chip on one corner but I don't think it was made to be worn as a brooch.
Its quite a good size at 5.5 cm in length and 3.5 width.

Hi Betty, I agree with Kyra here that it is missing one side and was a brooch. If you google Victorian swivel brooches you will see lots.

      Hi judy,
It may have been worn as a brooch but they were also displayed on easles in their homes just like pocket watches had their own stands.
A small 1 cm pin is also missing on this brooch.
