This cabinet has been in my family for over 30 years. My parents originally purchased it from a family in Virginia. The cabinet is in the background of the photograph with its original owners, or a 1800's. Does anyone have any information on the style of the cabinet? I'm trying to gather information as I'm currently trying to get it shipped from the west coast with my parents to the Midwest, to be with me. I'd appreciate any help or info. Thank you.

This is very beautiful. The only thing I can offer to you is inspect all the inside drawers for a name somewhere, many times a name was in a drawer on one of the sides but don't limit your search. Look on the bottom and outside of the drawers as well. You may want to look on the back of the whole piece as well. Sometimes they used a stamp which may have faded by now so look carefully everywhere you can think of and after that, look again. At the moment I can't even think of the style that this is called. Also, since you will be moving it, take many photos of the whole thing for your records. I wish I could be of more help. Check back though, we have very knowledgable people here that know photos. I will go to one and ask them to look at this for you. He may be able to give you all the answers you need! Good luck with your move and maybe come back and visit here when you've settled everyone in.

Great to have the photograph to show it in the original period of use.

Without the photograph, I would have thought it was very early 20th century.

The photo of it would make me slip the dating a little and say 1890s- 1910.

I'd say the photo shows the piece when it was fairly new.
