Today's 'church basement find' cleaned up nicely! :-)
This is an ESSOLUBE 1 quart motor oil can, now empty. (almost...?) On top it is embossed "Essolube MOTOR OIL 40 [weight] STANDARD OIL COMPANY OF PENNSYLVANIA NEW JERSEY LOUISIANA". The painted labeling on the sides of the can is the same on both sides except that its "NET CONTENTS" line at the top reads "1 U.S. QUART" on one side and ".946 LITERS" on the other. Because of this I'd guess it dates from the late 1960's or early 1970's -- if anyone knows otherwise I'd love to know?! :-)
Thanks for the loves to brunswick, buckethead, fortapache, and Caperkid! :-)
