Bell as only uses / have one weight sorry these are the only pictures I have.He will be selling it to me for around $150 is this a good price ? Is it sitting on top of something, or is it behind something?

Gillian, it looks like the whole thing is the clock. It's gorgeous. Since you are weighing it out whether you should or shouldn't, might be your first clue if you should or should not purchase. I believe it's a very specialized thing to fix these properly and by the price he is offering it to you for, I would imagine I'm right in thinking it will be costly to fix. If you can afford the repairs and you love it, by all means, get it. If you can not afford a high cost repair, I would think that you'd always look at it in passing wondering why you purchased it. Wait, I see it's your "friend", doesn't your friend know? Or have you not asked? And why are they getting rid of it? Call an antique clock repair person in your area and ask them, this is probably very heavy and like a piano, you can't move them around without having them readjusted. I hope that's not all too negative! Apologies if so.

Hunslet is a town in West Yorkshire England. Prince was a clockmaker late 1700s to early 1800s. Without seeing the movement from many sides You and we have no idea what it is. Eight day or one. Time only or hour strike. It isn't missing a second hand, that is a calendar dial with 31 at the top. Rent a truck to move it! Remove the hood from the top first then remove the pendulum and weights then remove the clock movement for safety sake. Cases are not heavy, just awkward. $150 would be your best Christmas gift EVER. Don't scrimp on restoration of the clock. Find the best you can and pay him/her their due. NOT a job for your cousin Vinny. Yes it is really sitting on the floor.

Re: thank you slackjack yes I bought the grandfather clock I will ad more pictures of the clock and movement the clock is a one day 30 hour brass movement one weight the movement is older then the case with the movement being from the late 1700's and the case is from the late 1800's thanks again slackjack and everyone else.

Bully for you. Still .....I find the story and price hard to believe.

Tangoes, I can give you some advice based on my experiences. I own 2 tall case clocks one from Philla. and one from Burlington, NJ. Like slackjack said, take the case apart slowly starting with the hood. If cables are not attached dont worry about taping them before taking off the weight. 1 weight probably means no chime.

Find the best tall case clock repairman you can find. It may cost you ten times the cost of the clock (I paid 3,000 for a clock, and 2,000 to have it repaired well). My guy didn't only repair it, he restored the works and fixed some old bad fixes! Nice signed clock face, best of luck with it, good price!
