These are the drawers from a hand-me-down / inheritance American Oak piece of furniture. I am trying to date and place it (ID where and or by whom it was made).
I can tell these aren't Knapp joints. Am I imagining that the cuts genererally have one side (top or bottom, depending upon drawer) flat while the other side is cut at an angle? Or is that in fact he case?
NOTE: I granddad "restored" it back when I was a kid, and I think that's where the globs of glue came from.

I got a little lost in your description, but machine made dovetails are evenly spaced, with each having the precise same angles.
My eyes are bad and so are these pictures, however, these are not now and never were machine cut joints. Unless it is marked I seriously doubt you will ever identify a maker. Grandpa did his best and that is what counts. The glue doesn't look like any older glue I ever saw. Years ago even homeowners used animal hide resin glue. Your glue looks clear in the pictures.
