This is a beautiful pair of Wedgwood items. Not a matching set, but I am pairing them together. The vase measures 3.5" x 3.5" and depicts a wreath around the top and 4 different cherub scene's around the whole vase. It has a Wedgwood stamp and the number 81. The jar has a lid, with what looks like palm leaves on the top, and the bottom of the lid has a wreath around it. There are cherubs on this one also, and two different Grecian scenes as well as trees. This piece also has the Wedgwood stamp, looks like the number 94 the letters CG and made in England. The artwork is so beautiful on these two items. Never collected Wedgwood, but the beautiful details captured my attention. This one measures 5" x 3.5" from the top of the lid to the bottom of the jar.

Hi there, I collect Wedgwood Jasperware, and I think the container is a vase. I couldn't make out a number on the base, but the number marked is usually the date - i.e. 69 would be 1969, so 18 would be 1918. I think these are relatively modern though. Could the 18 be initials of some sort? There is often initials of the potter on these pieces.

Hi AdeleC, thank you for commenting. I think I was asleep at the wheel on these items. I read the 18 upside down, so as fixed above, it is actually 81, and I do not even know how I got the other number at all, it is actually 94. I genuinely thank you for your info. We have a local antique shop who has the same scene's on a teapot and I think sugar bowl as my lidded jar, a bit bigger than my items also, they are dark blue and beautiful. He was asking 200. for the teapot and around that much for the other piece, but he dropped pot down to 100. They are beautiful, didn't even know they had them in dark blue.

There are 2 different colours of dark blue jasperware. The newer pieces tend to be a darker blue and are called Portland blue. Cobalt blue is the other blue and the older pieces are often Cobalt Blue. If you saw my tobacco jar, that is cobalt blue. I have a teapot found in a charity shop, the same blue as your pieces. It is dated 1957 and I got it for £10! I will have to do a post on it.

Please, I would love to see it for comparison to the one in my local shop. By the way, I had to stop looking at your stuff today, you made me late for an appointment...lol....I love almost everything I saw....great taste AdeleC!!
