When Mom passed this year, we found a box of my Grandmother's dog collectibles. All were wrapped in Miami newspaper dated 1963 so everything in the box we know is older than 1964 at least - all wrapped in same paper and since only 1 'layer' was used some were regrettably damaged).

Not an expert on dog breeds, nor collectibles. I found this site when I was looking for help in identifying vintage costume jewelry I inherited from both my Mother and Grandmother.

This pair look like they;re ready to conduct a symphony. They both have 3 holes - used to seeing salt shaker with more holes than pepper shaker but as these were together, I guess she considered them a set. Unfortunately, the tail on 1 dog is broken off. Fairly clean break but wish they'd packed more carefully. There is a mark/sticker.

Help with verifying breed and possible decade is appreciated!

I would say Cocker Spaniels. However, they look as if they should be using Rogain! Or maybe the face is one the wrong side. The ears should be hanging down the side of the face. Very odd. The hand is broken off on the right hand side piece.

Mid 40's to 50's is my thinking.

Gillian---LOL @ the Rogain comment! Yes, they look like they have very receding hairlines! I didn't even notice the hand..looks like my Grandmother tried to glue something back. I would think if one was actually 'Pepper', it would be using the other hand and have only 2 holes or less holes which seems to be somewhat consistent. Maybe she wanted a replacement when she broke the 1st one but couldn't bring herself to throw the other one out?? All guesses..
