Bought a pair of these porcelain blue and white bird and brass candle holders. They are 14 inches tall. The base is 6 inches. I read they might be circa 1920s. I really don't have any facts about them. No markings that I can find. Other than dusty they are in great condition. Having trouble finding any information about them on the internet. Any knowledge of these would be greatly appreciated. I only have the one picture right now, but I'll try to get more if needed. Thanks in advance.
My guess is that this one is a later reproduction, as there isn't one speck of crackling under the glaze.
Go to Google Images and search "ceramic parrot candlesticks" and loads will come which are very similar to yours.
Thank you for the suggestion Efesgirl. You gave me an idea for some more search words which provided a few more results, but still not much on these specific birds. I found two more references and determined these are circa 1960s and may be Hollywood Regency. One website commented the bird is Majolica style and the brass Rococo style but I can't say either way.
I've updated the pictures, the cracking in the glaze should be clearer. I don't believe these to be reproduction. They are in exceptional condition compared to others I've seen but again, there aren't many photos of the blue colored birds. Green appears to be far more popular.
1960 seems about right. Rococo mounts and Majolica rather than porcelain. The earlier ones that EFESGIRL refers to would have been Chinese porcelain with Baroque or Rococo mounts done in Europe a coupe of hundred years earlier. The mounts on yours are not of that quality. Lovely decorative items, though.
vetraio50 your comment regarding the design matches another I had seen. I'm still trying to get help on pricing these.
