Hi,
found this unusual antique piece at an auction and the auctioneer
didn't even know what it was.
I was told it's Native American, but I'm not sure.........
Could it be African or Mexican instead?
It's made of crudely tooled leather (with hair on it still in places)
and micro beaded with colorful beads. Shaped like a Hansa.
The top has a horizontal "pocket", presumably to hang on a rod or such.
Is this Native American? Is it a warrior breast plate?
Please help!
Thanks for your time and also please see my other postings, since I found
another possibly Indian rod with silvered thing on it awhile back that I
posted, but nobody knew what it was...................

A friend of mine did some research and found this: this piece is a vintage or antique 5 fingered (goat?) leather backed skirt or apron, with multicolored micro glass beaded geometric design, worn by a young woman on her wedding day in Zimbabwe, this piece of clothing is known as Isiphephet or Amaphotho.
