This carved wooden mouse was salvaged from a temple to be torn down in Thailand. It is the size of a netsuke however no holes and they weren't used in Thailand. Any ideas what it is and why a mouse would be the topic?

in thailand, temples are considered refuge for all living beings. people are discouraged from slapping at mosquitoes or flies and even mice and rats.
