I love art glass and I really love Art Deco so when I saw this I got super excited. But when I picked her up the head came flying off:( I have some kind of curse lingering with me when it comes to glass(deco powder jar/Durand vase) I just cant seem to find a piece like this in good condition.
The lady at the estate sale said that her father had given it to her mother as a gift sometime in the early 60's and was broken shortly after that.
She said her mother never liked it and may have broke it on purpose! Can you imagine?
What I would like to know is should I just glue her back together myself and add her to my collection, or have it done by someone who knows what their doing? Any comments welcome. Thanks.
LOL "curse".... too funny, but I feel your pain! As far as fixing her, I haven't a clue. I would check around your area to see if there is someone that can repair her. If you don't want to spend the money then just glue her head back on and put her on display.... she is beautiful!
Hi, if you look at my collection you will see i have the same lady in Vaseline glass, the little butterfly is for Heirich Hoffman, she is certainly worth restoring as she is quite valuable being an original piece.
As for the lady not likeing her the mind boggles LOL, but i suppose back in the day people were a bit victorian in their oppinions as to nude women ;-)

Hi, it depends on wether you intend to sell her, but either way she will always have a value because she is original and not reproduction, but as a restored piece i suspect the value would be at least halved.

look up Montano's glass repair on the net. I have know Wayne and Jan for over 30 years and they are the greatest. Honest as the day is long
Personally I would Repair Myself.(Crazy Glue is a wonderful thing)Display her in all her glory and don't even think about selling her.(Very little value repaired) Enjoy the history!!!
She is very, very beautiful! But if you glue the head back on, make sure you get it's head straight! haha just kidding!
I had a piece of Fenton I just snapped in two the other day and i was so mad at myself!

Hi, I have the same type piece. But mine is a modern reproduction. It is very high quality glass. It has a etched signature that says DESNA, and a clear vinyl sticker thats says DESNA and made in Bohemia, and Czech Republic. The only difference between mine and yours is that mine does not have a groove down the side of the base like yours.

Now I know what mine was for Art Deco powder jar vase! So with either of the names: Durand or Desna or any other co? Mine, the head came off too! Wonder how many were made? Anyone know?
