This sword was picked up on a world war one battlefield by my grandfather. Does anyone have a clue as to the nationality of this sword/Letter opener? It measures a little under 1 foot long. Any ideas?

If this is what I think it is, sword letter openers were all over the market in the 50's. There were a number of diff. designs. I bought several as a kid.
