Hello, I'm having trouble finding out who the maker of this plane is. My father gave it to me and he has no clue either. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Looks like an old Stanley #45 Plane to me. Google that, and see what you think.

Good thing to own regardless of the brand. Did your dad have any of the cutters for it? The cutters are getting hard to find. I have a newer model Stanley that will take two cutters at the same time. Very handy tool if you are doing an antique restoration and need the hand plane look to make it look original. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Well after a few hours of googling. I think i might have stumbled across what it may be. You guys will have to tell me what you think. So I think I've come up with a Stanley no 46 type 3 1876-79. Here is the site I found it on. http://tooltrip.com/tooltrip9/stanley/comb-planes/46types/46types.htm
