    Rug is about 4.5ft square. The black and white wide stripes are loom-woven and there is a warp fringe on bottom where it was cut off the loom. The colored design is embroidered and then sheared on the front where you can see the tufts from the shearing. Does anyone recognize the country of origin and name or description of this style? I bought it in an estate auction in Santa Barbara CA back in the 1980s.

      I admit to not knowing much. I wonder if it is a Native American Chumash rug?

      The Chumash never wove rugs. So you can rule that guess out....
