As far as I can find out the bear dates from the mid 50's. Wondering if he is a Koala bear made for the Australian market. Only a thought

No not a koala. The company doesn't seem to have any info online or history.

Will try again tomorrow. Lots of images on Pinterest, but when I click on one it takes me somewhere else

I have the exact same bear. I bought mine new and from memory it was about the mid 1990's give or take a couple of years. Our daughter took it to school for the Teddy Bears Picnic in 2002 and it was a bit hit with her friends. In the 1980's Robert Raikes bears (wooden face and most with wooden feet) were very popular. Sometime in the 1990's they seemed to fade from view. Perhaps the T.L. Toys tried to fill the void in some way? Anyway, the Raikes bears came in boxes and were high end. Our poor relation bear didn't. I bought mine off the shelf at a small gift shop in a shopping centre. If you do a Google search for Robert Raikes bears and view the images you'll find a very similar female bear to ours, right down to the the style of the dress and similar face. I have no idea what I did with the cardboard hang tag on mine. I do remember there was another bear on the shelf with mine, exactly the same except in a different patterned dress and matching hat. Also T. L Toys are based in Hong Kong and I think they're still in operation. While our bear is not a Robert Raikes, it's still lovely. Hope this helps.

Thanks witchesweb. Do you remember how much was it to buy back then?
    6. witchesweb witchesweb, 7 years ago
I think it around the $15.00 mark.
