    Zenith-A3
    (1 item)

I picked up this portable TV as a freebie, advertised on Craig's List. It's not working, though it looks good enough for a display item. The original cord was cut off at the plug and so I removed it and found another cord with a plug of the same size (after reaming out the holes). Several tubes seem to light up but not the screen.

I believe it should have rabbit ears or some kind of an aerial on top but it just has a cable connection wired in. I found a similar TV shown on Ebay, dating from 1957. Would anyone have an original magazine ad for it or more information about it?

    Jim

In 1955, my husband purchased this same TV set as our very first. It had rabbit ears and lasted a very long time (throughout our college years.)

That's good to know, thanks. Now to find those rabbit ears.

Very Nice, and brings back Good Memories! We had one that looked similar, but don't know if it was the same model. Here is a link that shows your set, and the good news is that it does not looked modified from the top anyway. Your rabbit ears appear to be missing the 2 telescopic antennas, but the base looks original. Go to the library, and ask for the "Sam's Photofact" for your set, and it will show you everything you need to know about it.

I think it was mine, you saw on Ebay around 2010-12, perhaps?
I have the 1957 portable (identical set) in almost perfect-new condition. Mine is pink, with one very light hairline scratch. The set works perfectly, with all but two (replacements) of the original tubes. I also have the original owners manual if you want a copy.
I've determined that by some fluke, mine is the only one in existence that has been so well preserved, and that it also operates in brand new condition. I'm preparing to relish it on high-end, antique auction sites for $25,000.00 starting (that may be too low, however, for something this rare.)

      That's, "re-list", not "relish".

Hi Timmay1960 would it be possible to get a copy of that owners manual?
