Found this in my Mother's collection recently. Been in our home for at least 40 years..interesting. Any input regarding it would be welcome! I have seen these labels for sale on eBay, but since I know how long it's been here just wondering if this could be original!
Look at the edges of the label. Do you see any adhesive that seeped out when it was pressed on?
Is the label perfectly centered, or close to it, and standing straight up perfectly, or close to it?
Is there a minute white haze to the bottle inside?
Is there No wear/staining to the label? Torn corners don't count.
If yes to any of the above, it raises flags that it MAY not be totally original to this bottle. If no, it could be original.
Another one is: Does the script on the label "Coca-Cola" match identically the script "Coca-Cola" on the glass?
It would be unusual for it to be original to the bottle. The old labels were very thin, applied lightly with food grade adhesive. The straight-sided bottles are pre-electric refrigeration, so the Coca-Cola bottles were sold on ice/in water. Used labels didn't last. And I've never seen one in that orientation, in old photos/advertisements the labels are horizontal on the bottle so that the logo reads left to right. Your bottle is intriguing because it looks so funky it could just be right. It's very difficult to say with certainty, but I'd go with "not likely, but very slightly possible." Maybe a bottle pro will step in with some wisdom.
