Unsure on this one, maybe it's a bad pic but the 'C' looks funny...

Nice pic on the brooch. Tried reading the artist's name..a bit hard to tell but my vision is not great.

    Unsolved Mystery

The writing under the picture says Fragonard.......google that and there might be more information :-)

Thanks, TassieDevil! I thought it was something like that and then I lost the note I had jotted down on the name..sigh..lol

Jean-Honoré Fragonard (French; 4 April 1732[2][3] – 22 August 1806) was a French painter and printmaker whose late Rococo manner was distinguished by remarkable facility, exuberance, and hedonism. One of the most prolific artists active in the last decades of the Ancien Régime, Fragonard produced more than 550 paintings (not counting drawings and etchings), of which only five are dated. Among his most popular works are genre paintings conveying an atmosphere of intimacy and veiled eroticism.

Obviously this piece is NOT that old. The article on Wikipedia indicated that many of his paintings were used as 'transfers' which is what I'd guess this is.

Thanks Karen, yes a transfer, I had some of these once.......they seem to be popular and do look nice pinned to a jacket. :-)

I inherited a similar brooch from my grandmother. Hers is open with faux pearls, but the base is exactly the same with the same mark. It's in a box that says "handcrafted" with a coat of arms, but nothing else. I am starting to think they weren't originally together. Now I'm even more intrigued.

      Hi again,

Just found this. WMAC stands for White Metal Caster's Association. Thanks, Google!!
