HEATHKIT [audio] SIGNAL TRACER

One more 'old school' electronics tester, this one is a HEATHKIT SIGNAL TRACER model IT-12. It would have been used (at least?) to poke around the insides of old amplifiers and stuff, where (I believe) it can test numerous things in a few different ways to allow one to diagnose circuitry problems. In its lower LH corner it features a "magic eye" electron tube that serves as a display for some of the tests -- it would show a glowing (moving?) 'dot' of some variety which would mean something specific to the repairman.

This unit also might be interesting (rare-ish??) since by its rear label it seems likely to have been sold originally as a *factory assembled functional unit* -- the HEATHKIT CO. (located in MI since the 1920's or so, still in business) has long been known for selling most of their products in "kit" form, to be assembled by their 'hobbyist' purchasers using fully detailed instructions. I am assuming that units provided as 'kits' would not have had such a label??

As far as I know it is very 1950's-60's 'mid century' -- a simpler time when the terms "stereo" and "color TV" were still relatively hi-tech novelties, and the electronic devices of the era actually allowed their owner/users to troubleshoot (not to mention *fix*?!) any difficulties, all by themselves??!! <wow>
