This painting is by a well-known painter known for her surrealist paintings in the 40s/50s/60s. it has written on the back in faded writing 'San Pablo ___?' - signed Sylvia Fein and then again it is signed by her along with San Pablo Harbor and '73. i think it's a favorite piece of hers as it is still in her online gallery of work - the exact same painting in egg tempura. http://www.sylviafeinpainter.net/wrk_calif_seascapes.html
i wonder how it came to be in a second-hand store in Berkeley? i really like it!
wow! she had an exhibit just a few years ago at 94! she's considered one of the Mexican surrealists too.
