    Vase is 14", know it has been in family for 100 years, no marking on bottom,
    similar to Nippon but inside does not seem as smooth- any ideas

      I have seen many different styles of Nippon over the past 50 years but this doesn't fit with anything I've seen. Perhaps you can check out the resources listed on this site to see if there is anything comparable. The handles look right but the design doesn't. I'm not an expert by any means so starting with the resources may help. And I've found that eBay is often helpful only because many different pieces are sold and you might get a hit for something like your vase.
      (I am not trying to belittle your vase but are you sure this is 100 years old?)
