Bought this today ... found sitting on an obscure bottom shelf in an antique store (a few bucks). I bought it mostly because it has a painted on number so likely was part of someone's "real" collection. Labels say Colima Olla which I thought was a place but now I've learned Colima is in western Mexico and an "olla" is a bowl shaped like this one. This measures about 7" diameter, 3 1/2" or so tall, the opening is about 2 3/4". It has two holes at the rim, presumably for handles or rope for carrying. Interesting item, too bad it has so much damage but I thought it would be fun to research! I would love to know HOW OLD it is. Can anyone help? I know nothing about Native American or Indian cultures' pottery! THANKS!!!
