The original 'Nemo' design was produced in many shapes and one very popular shape resembled an old fashioned goldfish bowl. You can see in image two that the lustre/paint is applied in evenly spaced 'hoops'. The wall of this vase is horizontally corrugated and it's this that produces the distortion on this one.
I once owned a baluster shaped vase with spiraling ridges and painted
'hoops' identical to these. The result in that case were horizontal zigzags.
