I found this at a local shop. I was wondering if anyone can help me to identify it as a Hubley. If not Hubley, who is the maker? It is very heavy and appears to have all of the original paint.
    It measures approximately 7.5 X 8".

It certainly fits the criteria. These were produced by Hubley (cat. #279) and were 8" x 9". They were also produced by National Foundry (cat. #159) and theirs was 7 1/2" tall. Though this one has a slotted screw, these were usually concealed with a type of spackling at the foundry before painting. Though the slotted screw isn't concealed on this one, he could still be the real deal.

Memory isn't my best thing but I believe the original Hubley was item #579. Hubley used item numbers as opposed to forge numbers or product names. I can't say this looks like a Hubley but close up of those spots on both sides of the rib cage and the underside and feet would help.
