Any ideas on type of glass, age, on this oil lamp? I bought it from an elderly lady at a yard sale a while back. The glass base is thick, has a yellowish tint to it with handpainted flowers all the way around. No markings I can find. Quite heavy for its size.
From what I can see, its a hand painted milk glass finger lamp with a brass nutmeg burner. Late Victorian
This lamp is called "Heart" for obvious reasons. It dates 1880-1900 and is made with Custard coloured glass. It would fluoresce under a black light. These Heart lamps were made in clear, pale opaque green and Custard. It came in different sizes and in this squat finger lamp style. Nice lamp and the flowers decoration adds to it's allure. RER
