(1 item)
Approximately 11" at highest tip and weighing around 9 lbs. Its very solid and heavy. Have not had it appraised but suspect it is nephrite jade. It does not scratch (as with soapstone), is cool to touch, opaque but translucent in thinner areas and has fibrous, granular texture visible 'under the surface' and a waxy feel. It has one small branch tip (little more than a mm or two, not noticeable unless pointed out) that broke off (due to my careless handling at the time) and the fracture presents with a white, sugary texture.
It has fine detail and is quite delicately carved.
The figure represents the God of Longevity.
I have no real knowledge of the piece's history or authenticity other than it was purchased by my aunt at an estate sale. The deceased's son had no knowledge of the piece and was simply wanting to sell his father's items as quickly as possible. My aunt purchased it for me as a gift knowing that I like Eastern culture.
I have owned it for a little over 6 years now.
