Beautiful square Chinese antique wood table and 2 chairs. Have no information on them. Any idea the year /era it was made in? Do the intricate details in the design mean something? Trying to find any information on where it came from or how old it is? Don't know if valuable or common furniture. Not even sure of the type of wood. Thanks for any help.

Google images for 'classical Chinese chairs'. You'll see photos from Christie's, Sotheby's, modern reproductions, etc.

If you have a good eye, you will notice the real antiques are lithe and extremely graceful, while the repros look heavy. Even today, the Chinese simply are tiny and weigh little compared to westerners, so it's not like classical Chinese furniture had to be overbuilt.

Oh, the round character in the middle of the chair back is 'shou' ('longevity').
