This is an example of counterfeit Nippon. The wild roses on a green background is a common pattern. Does the backstamp have an hourglass within a wreath? Could you post a pic of the bottom? It's also possible that this was shipped to the US with paper stickers and the stickers were removed on purpose. I speak from experience: I bought a tall flower pot with the same design 40 years ago with that backstamp. I'm sure every collector starts out this way. Actually, the vase was quite pretty and I kept it for its own sake..
Very nice piece, I would be interested in seeing the mark.
