    These two items are in an exhibit of antique carpenters planes but they don't look like they belong there. They both look the same on both sides. Any help identifying them would be most appreciated.

      The one on the left with the rope around the middle looks like a homemade harpoon.

      Thank you all for your help. I looked at pictures on line of all sorts of butcher hangers and this wooden one fit in with those. There was an image of one the shape of which was almost identical but I couldn't tell what it was made of. I say, problem solved! Thank you.
