I perform research for a local non-profit consignment store and we received this item as a donation recently. Hours and hours have been spent to no avail. Dozens of customers have even been queried - no ideas. Today a lady said she believed that it is a reproduction of a sterling antique bookmark for a large book such as a church bible. The measurements are 5.25" x 2.50", and it appears to be highly polished stainless steel.
Does anyone have any ideas Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
This is used for serving small cakes. I have one very similar.
Are you sure your piece is the same size? The serving size would only be about 3.5" - a really small cake, maybe a cookie? But then only one. It definitely appears to be for serving with the round finger handle.
Yes, mine is also small. Not for use with a full size cake. :-))))
Efesgirl - I just found one in an antique store website: An Italian bon bon or pastry server, silver-plate [doubtful]. Thanks for help.
