This is a cheap Chinese wall clock. Restoration for a family member who has a sentimental attachment for it. It was finished in brown gunk which hid what grain there is and the clock didn't function. I repaired the movement and have finished the case, with french polishing, just the door to go. I put this up so it can be seen that even a cheap piece can be made to look better with proper finishing technique.
Nice work on this one!! I guess you could say this one was a diamond in the rough.
Thanks jscotto363, appreciate your comment. It's not a great clock as clocks go, but it works efficiently (minor miracle) and though not the best of wood, did respond well to french polishing and even managed to show a little grain. In fairness when manufacturing a cheapie clock, no one's going to french polish it, except me apparently :) it's just a favour, but worth showing I thought :)
