"Storm Expected"

"Received your card Thanksgiving morning but as I stayed away from home and I have been so busy with studies I could not write how nice the cards are, and we thank you very much. Well I will have to close."

Myself interjecting upon the last part, "before I make more excuses about why I couldn't write sooner!" (She's writing it a week after she got it. They always seemed to be busy then just as most people seem to be now. How little things have changed.

As for why she picked a wife beating her husband card, I know not. Maybe she expects the storm from her uncle? Or maybe it was just the first cheap card that she saw on the rack. Speculation rarely is correct.
