I found this Kosta Boda Atoll Vase at a local thrift store a few months ago. I was almost speechless. It was so beautiful. The only Kosta Boda I had seen previous to that were the clear snowball votive candle holders, of which I have three. They are beautiful too.
This vase however, is 8 inches tall in about 7 inches wide at the rim. The glass is about 1 inch thick. I believe the vase weighs just about 8 pounds. I absolutely love it and have not had the heart to list it and potentially sell it....... yet. It was given a home in my bathroom that night and has not left.
The Atoll vase was designed by Anna Ehrner, a glass blower and artisan for Kosta Boda since 1974, who still maintains a studio there. She is also known for creating the "line glasses" for Kosta Boda. I didn't know that until I just looked up her name again. By looking at them, it is easy to see where companies that produce wine glasses for Pier 1 got the idea for the look of their blue and red swirl glasses.
Nice find! This would be about the biggest in the series I think.
