Please do not take offense if these are shown upside down or out of order!
USAF 1950's to early 1960's SAC

I get the Army Good Conduct but not the "barbed wire" addition.

The blue field w/ gold border appears to be a Presidential Unit Citation but is that an Oak Leaf Cluster? Any idea on how to find out more about the action that earned the citation?

    Thank you in advance.

I did not realize the pictures were so bad. I will retake them.

The clasp on the GCM is for additional awards. Each loop or hitch represents three years.

Hundreds of awards of the Presidential Unit Citation have been made-- without knowledge of the individual or his unit, there is no way to pin down when/ where the award was made.

Additionally, individuals currently serving in a unit wear ALL of that unit's awards regardless of whether or not they were present when they were earned.

Thank you Scott. The first part of my dad's hitch put in Japan. There he installed & maintained photo recon equipment. That is how he explained it. I know he was stationed in FL, USA at the end. He talked to me about October of 62 but that was mostly about the rapid transformation of the bases. Almost 20 years after his passing my mom explained his job was more. He was in the belly of the plane taking pictures of that little island country. I wonder what he photographed in Japan...
