Hello CW friends and fellow collectors!!
I stumbled across this doorstop of three penguins walking in a row last year. It was in pretty bad shape when I got it and it sat in my shop for quite a long time before I did anything with it. It measures 12" tall and 11" long.
Due to the condition of this one, I chose to repaint it. I do not know the age of this one or who the maker is. This one is actually a reproduction of the original from the 1930's. The original only measured about 7.5" tall and was a one piece casting. I'm still on the search for an original 1930's version of this one. There are no markings on this one anywhere.
But, I really like this one and will probably bring it out and display it this coming winter.
Thanks for stopping in to have a look!!
Scott
Nice work on the re-paint. They look very nice.
BTW - A group of penguins in the water is called a 'raft' – a group of penguins on land is called a waddle. Other collective nouns for penguins include: rookery, colony, and huddle. I like "waddle" for this group :)
Thanks buckethead!! And thank you for the very neat information. I learned something new this morning!
Thanks Ken!! I have a couple other cast iron penguins that I'll post sometime soon.

MacDaddyRico,
Thanks very much!! Yep, buckethead has provided us with some really cool information.
That was a bit different. Don't recal a triple penguin doorstop before.
fortapache,
Yeah, it's definitely a bit different. I've only seen a couple others out there like this one. I'm sure there's a lot of them out there, but I'm seeing very few.
