Hello CW Friends!!
I bought this cast iron penguin at an online auction, but this one's not a doorstop. Although, I guess he could be used as one if you so desired.
He's hollow inside, but, as you can see, he's sealed on the bottom. He measures 12" tall and 7" at his widest point. There are no seams that I can see. So, I'm a bit puzzled as to how he was cast.
He was severely rusted and I thoroughly cleaned him with steel wool and painted him. There are no makers marks on this penguin, so I'm not sure who made this one. I'm willing to believe this one was made in the early 1970's.
Thanks for taking the time to stop in and have a look!!
Scott

What kind of bunny is he? Wearing his ears on the sides...;-)
LOL Kyra!!!
He's a penguin hare:)
Another wonderful paint job, especially on the face. I stopped collecting penguins when everyone I knew, and then some, were giving me penguins. I only have a teeny one left.
He looks like a NZ Yellowed Eyed Penguin with his yellow flashes and cute face!
Thank you Ken!!!!
Gillian,
Thank you so very much!! I only have a few penguins. The cast iron penguins are getting hard to find.
Thanks Karen!! I painted him based on the lines in the casting. So, he could well be a NZ Yellow Eyed.
Another excellent paint job Scott! Did I see a bunny under that Penguin suit? Lol
A rabbit in penguin clothing ! We're on to you Scott !
LOL Rick!! Thanks very much!
BB2,
