This brooch "looks" much older to me than other pieces but I know that isn't always so. This seems like definitely close to turn of the century but how much on 'either side', I'm not sure.
The moonstone is in decent condition considering the rest of the brooch definintely shows it's been around a while. I need to clean some of my pieces but ones like these, I'm nervous as to what to do.
No maker's mark.
Did not notice that...it is a completely different color...
I would sooner think this was a late 1800's early 1900's woman's shoe clip. The clip was removed and replaced with a pin to make it a brooch.
If you click my name and go to my page there is a photo of a similar item that is a shoe clip but without the stone.
Here's one that is very similar - 1940s: https://www.etsy.com/listing/468008233/vintage-1940s-victorian-revival-large?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=moonstone%20hat%20pin&ref=sr_gallery_9
I was thinking nutsabotas4 and fhrjr2 were correct that this wasn't originally a brooch. The metals (pin vs brooch/clip) look distinctly different. Maybe it's me, but pin is not 'centered' in middle of brooch...but THEN...Efesgirl came along and found one that from a 'template' perspective almost perfectly matches this one.
I keep thinking I visually see small differences in the one that Efesgirl linked vs the one in my pics....but then I drive myself crazy debating whether they are the same. They are sure CLOSE to identical in terms of a pattern.
The only thing I know is whether it began life as a shoe clip or as a brooch, that brooch had a poor repair job done to it in comparison to the one in Efesgirl's link.
